On the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, cultureNOW, the Lower Manhattan Historical Association, Sons of the Revolution in the State of New York, and Fraunces Tavern Museum mark the occasion with a hybrid symposium featuring authors Jim Rasenberger (in person) and Tim McGrath (virtual).

On July 4, 1826 — the 50th anniversary of the Declaration — both John Adams and Thomas Jefferson died on the same day. John Quincy Adams recorded his father's last words as "Thomas Jefferson survives." He was not wrong, though Jefferson died just hours later. Five years on, July 4, 1831, James Monroe — the last Founding Father to hold the presidency — died in New York.

In-person admission is included with museum entry — $1 on July 4. Virtual attendance is free with RSVP. Seating first come, first served; walk-ins welcome space permitting.
