Personae in the 21st Century

Artist David Levine moderates a conversation on the use of personae in our domestic, political, and online lives with The New Yorker staff writer and novelist Elif Batuman; art historian Carrie Lambert-Beatty; and journalist, critic, and author Virginia Heffernan. They explore the bots, trolls, rent-a-families, fake crowds, and other parafictional characters blurring distinctions between fact and fiction, fake and real in the 21st century.
