Photo Exhibit Examines “Tree Trunks of the Grand Canyon”

A new exhibit, Tree Trunks of the Grand Canyon: A Photographic Journeycelebrating the extraordinary talents of artist Francisco Alvarado-Juárez, an internationally recognized Honduran-born artist, will open on Wednesday, November 28 at the Gallery by the Garden in The New Jewish Home’s Kittay Senior Apartments, an independent living residence in the Bronx. The exhibit will run through January 31, 2019.

These 11 beautiful images are extraordinary and fascinating colorful close-ups of “nature’s paintings” as found in the medium of sap of cut tree trunks in the Grand Canyon.  Captured through the artist’s lens, these photographs represent Alvarado- Juárez’s unique vision, sense of adventure and exuberance for life.  The exhibit is curated by Victoria Marin-Harrison.

Alvarado-Juárez has had over 45 individual and 80 group exhibitions. His artwork is represented in various permanent Museum collections including the Smithsonian American Art Museum, Brooklyn Museum of Art, Everson Museum of Art, and Museo Pablo Serrano in Zaragaoza, Spain.
