Political Ideologies in Latin America

This course lists and distinguish the different ideologies developed in Latin America from independence to the Spanish Empire. Topics include the concept of ideology, Liberalism, Conservatism, Socialism, Nationalism/Populism, Neo- Indigenismo and Multiculturalism, and Socialism of the 21st century.

Roberto Garay earned his PhD in political science from The National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) in 2004,  and his BA (Political Science) and MA in public International law from the Jose Matias Delgado University, San Salvador, El Salvador, Central America. Currently he works with an Information Technology Company in New Jersey.

In collaboration with Prospect Park Alliance, Brooklyn Public Library presents University Open Air, a free, three-week series of classes beginning Tuesday, June 11th in Prospect Park’s former Rose Garden.
