How to Prevent Another Great Recession

POSTPONED. TO BE RESCHEDULED. In the run-up to the Great Recession, lawmakers and regulators confused correlation with causation and symptoms with the disease, and bent the reality to suit their political rhetoric, effectively planting the seeds of the next crisis.

What can we learn from this experience that would allow us to improve our system of growth and opportunity called capitalism? What mistakes have been done that will need to be undone? What is the best framework to think through the the confluence of ethical, social, political, and economic aspects of global financial issues?

Asli Ay spent almost a decade in the CEO office of one of the world’s largest financial institutions hardest hit by the crisis, covering top corporate clients globally and working with policymakers and regulators who were blindsided with the severity of the recession. Currently managing partner of US Policy Metrics, Ay has moved onto advising investors on how government actions impact their investments.

Carnegie New Leader Niovi Christopoulou will lead the discussion.
