Preview Screening of Love After Love and Conversation with Andie MacDowell

Reel Pieces is proud to announce that our next guest will be actress Andie MacDowell, with a preview of Love After Love on Wednesday, March 28, at 7:30 pm.

The star of films including Sex, Lies and VideotapeGroundhog DayShort Cuts and Four Weddings and a Funeral will discuss her career with moderator Annette Insdorf following a screening of Russell Harbaugh’s contemporary domestic drama Love After Love (preceded by clips from her previous films).

Andie MacDowell was a model before embarking on an acting career. She won the LA Film Critics Award for Best Actress and was nominated for a Golden Globe for her performance in Steven Soderbergh’s Sex, Lies and Videotape (1989). She earned another nomination for Peter Weir’s comedy Green Card alongside Gerard Depardieu. Groundhog Day (1993) was a critical as well as commercial hit, and for Four Weddings and a Funeral she received a third Golden Globe nomination. After co-starring with Michael Keaton in Harold Ramis’ Multiplicity and with John Travolta in Nora Ephron’s Michael, she continued to work in a combination of mainstream, indie and TV films.

In Love After Love, two adult sons (Chris O’Dowd and James Adomian) do not behave well in reacting to their widowed mother’s new romantic relationship. After its premiere at the 2017 Tribeca Film Festival, the VARIETY review said, “Blending the intimate volatility of John Cassavetes with the elegant lyricism of Hou Hsiao-hsien, Russell Harbaugh crafts an … altogether authentic snapshot of the tumultuous process of grieving a lost loved one. Bolstered by superb lead turns from Chris O’Dowd and Andie MacDowell … Love After Love is an assured debut feature that announces its writer-director as a formidable new American indie voice.”
