Pulsations: Ken Jacobs’ Silent Film Sky Socialist with Electro-Acoustic Film Score by “KAT” Modiano

Electro-acoustic composer, improviser  and flutist Yael Acher “KAT” Modiano performs live a world premiere score, joined by Stuart Diamond on wind synthesizer, to Ken Jacobs’ visionary silent film Sky Socialist (1964-65). Jacobs says that Sky Socialist “is a story of impossible love that emerges through the preoccupation with space and pattern shaping by way of camera-manipulation; my approach to film is that of a painter (abstract expressionist) rather than dramatist.”
