Stop by this full-day symposium, featuring workshops, panel discussions, and interdisciplinary explorations of poetry.
Queens Poetry Symposium’s Poetry on Kissena brings poetry programming to the community at the heart of Flushing, Queens.
The intention of the full-day symposium is to provide opportunities for poetry enthusiasts to engage with the literary community, discuss the nuts and bolts of writing and publishing poems, and put together a poetry collection.
This year, our panelists will present generative workshops and examine the role of memory, grief, and faith in the craft of poetry. They will also view poetry through the lens of artistic movements like Dadaism, visual arts, ikebana (the art of flowers), and ancestral and familial memory.
The panelists are: Noah Ahrm Choi, Carlie Hoffman, Olena Jennings, Mina Khan, Eugenia Leigh, Darius Phelps, Katarina La Poll, Marie La Viña, Kristine Slentz, Rebecca Pinwei Tseng, Preeti Vangani and R.A. Villanueva.
This event is made possible (in part) with public funds from the Queens Arts Fund, a re-grant program supported by New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council and administered by New York Foundation for the Arts.
