Join Damian Woetzel for an evening exploring the acclaimed work of Bessie Award winners and former Merce Cunningham Dance Company members Rashaun Mitchell and Silas Riener. Mitchell and Riener, who were recently named 2014 City Center Choreography Fellows, have been innovatively collaborating on site-specific installations, improvisational dances, traditional proscenium pieces, and immersive experiences since 2009. Their work explores a wide range of movement forms, and is often informed by artists of other disciplines, including writers, musicians and designers. For this Studio 5, Mitchell and Riener will show excerpts from their work, and discuss their lives as artists in the post Merce Cunningham era with Woetzel, who will be joined in the dialogue by Nancy Dalva, The Merce Cunningham Trust Scholar in Residence.
