Respiration

Cellnet10[Silence Is Accurate]‘s summer Art Escape is taking place Monday, July 25th, 10am-8pm at Cafe Grumpy, 224 W. 20th St., New York, NY 10011

“Respiration” is a two-part exhibition featuring an outdoor installation and drawings by multimedia artist and scientist Jessica Johnson. Cellular Respiration, the outdoor installation, attempts to create a “womb-like” structure of cells that will encompass the viewer and visually take them “into an internal, cellular space that will allow for reflection on the rhythmic, internal bodily processes that are automatic and essential to life, but are processes that we only think of momentarily, if at all.”

We’ll be hosting special Creative Flow Gong Meditations by Nechama beneath the installation structure, which will cover the entire backyard of Grumpy’s Chelsea location!

The installation will be on exhibition only on July 25th, however Johnson’s drawings, Cellular Networks, will be on display at Cafe Grumpy Chelsea through the entire month of July. These drawings reflect the abstract amalgamation of cells into larger wholes, and are reminiscent of petri dish cultures, microscope imaging and histological cross-sections.

A closing reception for the installation will be held July 25th, 5pm-8pm. Free-$20.
