RU Talk: Also Today Is an Omen?, Performance by Héctor Jiménez Castillo

Curated by Ian Cofre, independent curator and writer from New York.

Héctor Jiménez Castillo is an artist, poet, and writer. Plural. Pleural, pleur, plurial, prurient, plurealidad…

Also today is an omen? is a site-specific choreographic action that will last 40 minutes.

It all starts with the image of the Nativity, walking for days in the desert to be born humble. Son of God and humble. Do you remember Babel? We still want to reach the highest, speak all languages, find what we do not yet know is lost. There is a slight difference between the innate and the native, if God, the world and the empire are stories, where lie the things we said? Who is born being and who being born for what?

The work itself begins with Carlo Gesualdo, murderer, artist, poet and sadist. ‘Sesto libro di madrigali: XVII

Moro, lasso, to my duel. ‘

I die, alas, in my suffering,
And she who could give me life,
Alas, kills me and will not help me.
O sorrowful fate,
She who could give me life,
Alas, gives me death.
