Lyosha was forced to leave Russia in 2014 for being open gay professor and activist in Perm region. Lyosha has been studying and teaching LGBTIQ identity since 2005, and was one of few people in Russian Academy, trying to make LGBTIQ issues visible. He is a vocal and outspoken public advocate for LGBTIQ rights.
