Few artists have as diverse a background as Ryuichi Sakamoto—composer, performer, producer, and environmentalist. His work has spanned genres and forms: from pioneering electronic music as a member of Yellow Magic Orchestra to crafting globally inspired rock albums, classical compositions, minimal and ambient music collaborations, and over 30 film scores. Following a screening of Stephen Schible’s documentary portrait Ryuichi Sakamoto: Coda on July 15 at 4:45pm (102 minutes), Sakamoto will join one of America’s premier renaissance women, musician, artist, and filmmaker Laurie Anderson, for an extended discussion spanning his career and latest triumphs. This intimate event between two of the world’s most renowned—and daring—creative pioneers is a summer event not to be missed.
