Valerie Steele, director and chief curator of The Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology, explores our culture’s fascination with extravagant shoes.

Steele reveals some of the most extreme styles of the past decade, including work by Manolo Blahnik, Christian Louboutin and influential design houses like Balenciaga and Prada, as well as avant-garde styles by up-and-coming designers.
