Silent Cities: Jessica Ferri’s Cemetery Travels

What makes cemeteries so captivating? There is a unique appeal to places like Green-Wood—with their rolling hills and wide vistas dotted with historical monuments and mausoleums. Jessica Ferri, a freelance writer whose work has been published by The Economist, NPR, Bustle, Time Out New York, and The Daily Beast, has long harbored a passion for the macabre. Through her Instagram account, Silent Cities (@silent_._cities), she chronicles the incredible cemeteries she has visited and their unique and often forgotten stories. She will be joined in conversation with Jeff Richman, Green-Wood’s historian, to speak about her recently published book, Silent Cities New York, as well as her fascination with and her personal connection to cemeteries.

$5/Free for members. This conversation is part of our new series of virtual programs about the history of Green-Wood and its permanent residents, Zooming in on History.
