Skirball Talks: We Are Syrians

We Are Syrians: Three Generations, Three Dissidents
Laura Flanders leads a discussion with Syrian Scholars at Risk

Host of The Laura Flanders Show, Laura Flanders interviews Naila Al-Atrash, Radwan Ziadeh, and Sana Mustafa as they describe how they were forced out of Syria by a government that wanted to silence them, and how they refused to be silent. As detailed in the recently released book We Are Syrians: Three Generations, Three Dissidents, their personal stories together tell the larger story of the Syrian conflict and how—despite living with the worst on-going humanitarian crisis in the world today—the spirit of Syrian people lives on. Scholars at Risk, an international network that protects scholars and promotes academic freedom, has assisted many Syrian scholars escaping the conflict and participated in the development of We Are Syrians.

Held weekly every Monday at 6:30 during the academic terms, SKIRBALL TALKS hosts visionaries from the worlds of politics, the arts, sciences, academia, and more. Future guests include Oskar Eustis, Slavoj Žižek, Judith Butler, and Eckhart Tolle.

*RSVPs are required and tickets must be claimed by 6:10 pm. Unclaimed tickets will be released to those on the waiting list. You can begin picking up tickets at the NYU Box Office (566 LaGuardia Pl) 2 hours prior to event.
