Sokolow Theatre/Dance in I’m not here to be polite

The Sokolow Theatre/Dance Ensemble presents “I’m not here to be polite” (from Anna Sokolow’s remark: “I’m not here to be polite, I’m here to tell the truth.”). Veteran Sokolow dancers will be joined by a new generation of Sokolow dancers and guest Daniel Fetecua. The program features Sokolow’s 1968 Steps of Silence, and her 1973 Three Poems, created for the Juilliard dancers.  Eleanor Bunker will dance Valerie Bettis’s famed dramatic solo The Desperate Heart, created in 1943. Guest Fetecua and Francesca Todesco will perform Jim May’s Sleeping Bouquet, and guest choreographer Robert Cleary has been asked to set his provocative This is Not America for the Sokolow company.  Performances Thurs/Fri/Sat at 8 PM and Sunday at 3 PM at the Actors Fund Arts Center, 160 Schermerhorn Street in Brooklyn.
