The story spans Dorothy Day's arrest for refusing civil defense drills, Mayor David Dinkins blocking plans for a nuclear-capable Navy port on Staten Island, and ICAN activists pushing the City Council to strengthen NYC's nuclear-free status in alignment with the 2017 UN nuclear ban treaty. A city at the center of the Atomic Age that became a model for disarmament.
