Stephen Antonakos’s Proscenium: Four Views

Phong Bui is an artist, writer, independent curator, and former curatorial advisor at MoMA PS1 (2007–2010). He is also the Co-Founder, Publisher/Artistic Director of the monthly journal The Brooklyn Rail, the publishing press Rail Editions, and the Rail Curatorial Projects. Among several foundations and non-for-profits he is involved with, in 2017 he became a trustee of Anthology Film Archives and Studio in a School.

Vincent Katz is a poet, translator, and critic. He is the editor of Black Mountain College: Experiment in Art (MIT Press) and the author of numerous articles and essays on contemporary artists. He is the author of twelve poetry collections and books of translation. Katz is the editor of the poetry anthology Readings in Contemporary Poetry, drawn from the series he curates at Dia:Chelsea.

Daniel Marzona studied art history and philosophy at the Ruhruniversität Bochum. From 2001-2004 he worked as a curator at P.S.1 Contemporary Art Institute, NY. In 2004 he co-founded the publishing house Navado Press with Elena Carlini and began to publish numerous texts on contemporary art. From 2007-2014 he was director of Konrad Fischer Galerie in Berlin. In September 2014, he opened his own gallery in Berlin-Kreuzberg.

Helaine Posner is Chief Curator of the Neuberger Museum of Art, Purchase College, SUNY, Purchase, New York. From 1991-1998, she was curator of the MIT List Visual Arts Center, Cambridge, MA. Posner is the author of a monograph on artist Kiki Smith and was U.S. Co-commissioner for the 48th Venice Biennale. She is co-author of the award-winning book After the Revolution: Women Who Transformed Contemporary Art and of The Reckoning: Women Artists of the New Millennium.

Lilly Wei is a New York-based independent curator, writer, journalist and critic whose area of interest is global contemporary art and emerging art and artists. Her writings have appeared in dozens of publications here and abroad and she is a longtime contributor to Art in America, a contributing editor at ARTnews, and formerly a contributing editor at Art Asia Pacific. She is the author of numerous artists’ catalogues and monographs and has curated exhibitions in the United States, Europe and Asia.

This lecture coincides with Stephen Antonakos: Proscenium Bending Light: Neon Art 1965 to Now, on view at the Neuberger Museum, SUNY Purchase through June 24, 2018.
