Street Trees Need Some TLC in the Winter

Street trees have a tough job to do: they intercept and absorb storm water runoff, provide oxygen, and help to reduce urban residents’ stress. They need all the help they can, even in the dead of winter! Ashleigh Pettus, Operations Manager for Trees New York, will provide guidance and tips on how to care for street trees and help them thrive. Topics discussed will include watering, mulching, and tree bed gardening.

The event is funded by the NYS Environmental Protection Fund as administered by the Environmental Justice Community Impact Grant Program of the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation. It is also part of The Green-Wood Cemetery’s environmental justice partnership with Trees New York to fight harmful air pollution in Brooklyn called, Give Trees a Chance: Environmental Justice in South Brooklyn.

This event is free.  Reservations are recommended.
