Sunday Meeting: Jinah Parker in Conversation

Ethical NYC member Sarah Tielemans interviews Jinah Parker. In 2015, Jinah created The Jinah Parker Project, a non-profit arts organization dedicated to tackling major social issues through dance. Her most recent work in that regard is SHE, a Choreoplay about sexual violence, Sandra Bland, and healing. It has been described by The New York Times as “passionate and necessary, and will make its Off-Broadway debut in the Fall of 2018.


Jinah Parker (Buffalo, NY) received a M.A. in Dance Education from New York University and a B.A. in Dance from the University at Buffalo (Phi Beta Kappa). Prior to her graduate studies, Jinah was a member of Dayton Contemporary Dance Company II, Lehrer Dance, regional productions of AIDA, Beauty and the Beast. While at NYU, Jinah worked with Alpha Omega Theatrical Dance Company, and Annabella Gonzalez Dance Theater, where she became a commissioned choreographer. She worked as a dance educator in the Buffalo and NYC Department of Education, at the university-level, and currently teaches part-time at The Dalton School. A recipient of the 2017-2018 CUNY Dance Initiative Residency Program and commissioned to design curriculum for Nadine Bommer — one of Israel’s major artistic institutions.
