SYREN Modern Dance and the Church of St. Luke in the Fields Presents the Art of Fugue

SYREN Modern Dance, presented by The Church of St. Luke in the Fields, will
perform The Art of Fugue accompanied by Rick Erickson on organ and harpsichord. This site-specific dance explores definitions of beauty while searching for its existence in a world filled with detachment, immediacy, and exploitation. Bachʼs masterpiece is at the center of this work, allowing the organ to heighten the senses, evoking imagery and inspiring movement from every crevice, step, and pillar of the sanctuary. This production originally premiered at Bach Vespers of NYC at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, and has since been presented by Bach Society Houston (TX), Sacred Music at the Red Door (CT), as well as at Providence United Methodist Church (NC).

The Art of Fugue (Johann Sebastian Bach) is choreographed by Kate St. Amand and is performed by Rivkins Christopher, Victoria Ellis, Jessica Nolan, Darcie Perkins, and Lynn Peterson. The Art of Fugue will be accompanied by Rick Erickson. Additional collaborators include Naomi Luppescu, costume design.
