Grab a glass and whet your curiosity and appetite as Nathan Myhrvold discusses the innovations and world travel that led to some of his most stunning photographs. Nathan has had a passion for science, cooking, photography, and travel since he was a boy. Whether it is photographing the Badlands in South Dakota or spending over a year developing a high-resolution microscope camera to take incredibly detailed photos of snowflakes, Nathan draws insight and inspiration from all that surrounds him.
Nathan Myhrvold is the founder of Modernist Cuisine and lead author of Modernist Cuisine: The Art and Science of Cooking; Modernist Cuisine at Home; The Photography of Modernist Cuisine; and Modernist Bread. In 1999, Nathan retired as CTO of Microsoft to found Intellectual Ventures, combining his lifelong interests in photography, cooking and food science. He and his team of research chefs, scientists and writers have published much acclaimed volumes about the cooking process, history of cooking, and the techniques, equipment and recipes involved in Modernist cuisine. Modernist Cuisine Gallery opened in 2017 after Nathan received continued requests to buy photography found in his books. With locations in Las Vegas, New Orleans, Seattle and La Jolla, the gallery features Nathan’s large-scale, limited edition artwork and is the first gallery in the world to focus solely on food photography by a single artist. In 2019, Myhrvold was inducted into Heritage Radio Network’s Hall of Fame for his special impact on the food community.Buy tickets/get more info now
