Thalia Book Club: Nathan Englander, “Dinner at the Center of the Earth”

Pulitzer finalist and bestselling author Nathan Englander will be joined by author Mira Jacob (The Sleepwalker’s Guide to Dancing) to discuss his new, “many-splendored” (The New York Times) novel, Dinner at the Center of the Earth, a powerful, riveting story exploring the Israel-Palestine conflict through the lives of a prisoner in a secret cell and the soldier who watched over him for a dozen years.

“While parallel lives might have to wait for infinity to converge, opposing narratives may be resolved in stories. And stories about the Promised Land, as this bold, compassionate, genre-hopping novel reminds us, have always traded in impossibility.” – The New York Times

At the Thalia Book Club, readers and writers meet for intimate conversations about compelling new books and favorite classics in fiction, essay, biography and more. Evenings include an actor performing an excerpt, an interview, and a conversation with the audience.

Book sales will be provided by Symphony Space. There will be a book signing following the event.
