The Architecture of Sir Edwin Lutyens

The National Arts Club presents a lecture on the work of Sir Edwin Lutyens from architectural historian Dr. Robin H. Prater.

Sir Edwin Lutyens’s oeuvre is startlingly diverse. After becoming well-known for his Arts and Crafts country homes, he expanded his creativity to include designs with roots in Georgian, Tudor, and even Art Nouveau, eventually coming to see Classicism as the ultimate challenge for an architect. His various commissions consisted not only of residential, commercial, academic, and government buildings, but also churches, exhibition buildings, bridges, planned developments, furniture, and garden designs.
