The Artist Isn’t (Physically) Present: Women in Digital Art Panel

While new technologies have been giving birth to new mediums for expression since time immemorial, digital art has only begun to scrape the surface of the mainstream, especially as an art form with meaningful market value.

Many of today’s digital art distribution methods bypass the traditional gatekeepers that have led us to an art market shaped by the homogenous elite but lack the framework that has allowed the traditional art world to operate successfully from a business standpoint. This new wave of artistic exchange that exists in URL, not IRL, has heralded both new freedoms and new risks, especially for those who diverge from what a “master artist” once looked like.

In this discussion, led by Meural Head of Curation Poppy Simpson, prominent female-identifying artists will discuss the ways in which they are building their digital art practice both within and outside of traditional art world systems and their predictions for what a digitally driven and more inclusive art market might look like in the future.

Join us for an engaging panel discussion at The Loft at SHOWFIELDS followed by a reception with wine and sparkling CBD beverages courtesy of Recess. Works from artist panelists will be on display on the Meural Canvas.
