‘The Black Panther: Past, Present, and Future?’ Webinar

The sudden and tragic death of actor Chadwick Boseman, known worldwide for his 2018 role as The Black Panther, sent shockwaves throughout both the mainstream entertainment and comic book worlds — without Boseman as the series’ definitive character, how will The Black Panther franchise move on? It’s time to explore one of the most bada$$ superheroes of all time, and where the epic series can go from here.

Join New York Adventure Club for a retrospective on The Black Panther series, from the fascinating comic book origins and character development beginning in the 1960s, to its feature film in 2018 and possibilities for its cinematic future.

Hosted by award-winning comic book-style illustrator and pop culture historian Arlen Schumer, this “VisuaLecture” about the past, present, and future of The Black Panther will include:

  • The behind-the-scenes story of the origin of The Black Panther
  • Why artist/creator Jack Kirby’s original maskless Black Panther ended up wearing a complete facemask
  • Which famous Civil Rights leaders the characters of The Black Panther and Killmonger represented
  • Which actor, male or female, might carry the torch as the lead role for the future of the series

Afterward, we’ll have a Q&A with Arlen — any and all questions about The Black Panther are welcomed and encouraged!

Can’t make it live? Don’t worry, you’ll have access to the full replay for one week!

A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Black Art Futures Fund (BAFF), a collective of emerging philanthropists promoting the elevation and preservation of Black arts & culture.

See you there, virtually! $10.
