‘The Cathedral of St. John the Divine, World’s Largest Cathedral’ Webinar

Built during the Gilded Age and Progressive Era, The Cathedral of St. John the Divine in upper Manhattan is a product of its time — and one that is still unfinished over 125 years later. But how did the world’s largest cathedral end up in New York City? It’s time to explore the history and architecture of the world’s largest cathedral, through never-before-seen archival images and exclusive modern video clips.

Join New York Adventure Club for a digital showcase of The Cathedral of St. John the Divine, the mother church of the Episcopal Diocese of New York and the Seat of its Bishop.

Led by Cathedral of St. John the Divine staff member Ruth Whaley, our exploration of the past, present, and future of the world’s largest cathedral will include:

  • A discussion around the history and story behind the cathedral, and why it was built in two different architectural styles
  • A look at some of its most famous architectural features, including historic stained glass windows, notable sculptures, and the famous Guastavino tile spiral staircase
  • virtual trip up the cathedral’s spiral staircases with stops along the way including the triforium, a buttress, and ceiling above the nave
  • Video clips showcasing the cathedral’s architectural gems

Afterward, we’ll have a Q&A session with Ruth — any and all questions about The Cathedral of St. John the Divine are welcomed and encouraged!

Can’t make it live? Don’t worry, you’ll have access to the full replay for one week!

See you there, virtually! $10.
