His influence extends beyond film and television to classical dancers and choreographers. He danced with his sister Adele, and became a major star in vaudeville and on Broadway. In 1933 RKO cast him with Ginger Rogers in Flying Down to Rio and the pair became the biggest dance team in movie history. Astaire also danced with every major talent in film in over 30 musicals.
