The Ethics of Truth: A Jeffersonian Dinner

When: Thu, Jul 9 at 7:00pm - 9:00pm
Where: Flatiron
When media algorithms and modern politics prioritize emotional drama over raw data, does a single "objective truth" even exist anymore?
Traditional, neutral journalism has largely been replaced by "engagement." Today, news outlets and populist movements make money and win power not by giving us complex facts, but by feeding us satisfying storylines—casting heroes, villains, and massive crises to keep us hooked. This constant cycle has completely fractured our shared reality.
Join us at a Jeffersonian Dinner curated by Pearl Social.
Tonight, we are looking past daily politics to examine how we form our beliefs. We will confront our own echo chambers, discuss how to find common ground when everyone has their own set of facts, and ask a fundamental ethical question: Do we actually care about seeking the cold truth, or do we just want a comfortable narrative that proves us right?
