Evening Lecture Presented by Tom Shachtman (The Founding Fortunes: How the Wealthy Paid for and Profited From America's Revolution).

Shachtman argues that the establishing of a stable and independent United States of America first required wealthy colonials uniting to disrupt the very economic system that had enriched them, funding a long and costly war. This lecture traces the lives of a dozen men who made and lost fortunes in the Revolution, and how they affected the finances and financial structure of the new country.
