The Glass House as Queer Space

The Glass House in New Canaan, Connecticut, famously sheltered its architect Philip Johnson and his partner, the curator David Whitney, in a relationship that began before the Stonewall rebellion. A panel of scholars and practitioners will discuss the Glass House as “queer space” and consider the ways in which architecture and design shape queer identities.

This program is presented in partnership with The Glass House, a site of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, on the occasion of Stonewall 50.

Speakers:
Donald Albrecht, Independent curator
Alice Friedman, Wellesley College
Thomas Mellins, Independent curator
Joel Sanders, FAIA, Yale University
