The New York Postmaster Provisional with Mark Schwartz

The Collectors Club of New York invites you to join us for a live virtual program on Wednesday, May 13th at 5:30pm EDT.

In 1845, the New York Postmaster Provisional stamp was introduced prior to the first federal US stamp issues of 1847. This presentation will cover the full spectrum of this issue, ie, from pre-production to production of stamp well as the control initials and cancellations seen. We will also show examples sent to nearly all the states and most foreign countries.

Mark’s Background

Mark Schwartz is a trained chemist and businessman. He retired from a major pharmaceutical company in 2007. He began collecting stamps as an 8-year-old and became a serious philatelist in the 1970’s when he began collecting both stamps and postal history. After retirement he became more involved in shows, exhibiting, philatelic writing and in various societies.
