For readers of Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights, or The Tenant of Wildfell Hall, the lives of the three Brontë sisters are endlessly fascinating. In this presentation, we will explore the elements that helped to create their legend: the lonely parsonage on the Yorkshire Moors, the dissolute brother, the obsessive juvenilia, the childhood tragedies, the conflict between domestic duty and creativity, the illnesses and early deaths--and try to determine how these factors contributed to the amazing adult poems and novels.
