“Why does tragedy exist?” Anne Carson asked in Tragedy: A Curious Art Form. “Because you are full of rage. Why are you full of rage? Because you are full of grief.” Carson returns to the Poetry Center for a staged reading of her new translation of Sophocles’ famous tragedy. Director Sam Gold’s recent productions include Theresa Rebeck’s Seminar on Broadway and Annie Baker’s adaptation of Uncle Vanya.
