Every American child knows the story of Paul Revere and his courageous ride to warn the American colonists that the British were coming on the night of April 18, 1775. But the story was more complicated than that: Revere had already made more than a dozen rides to report on British movements, and he was not the only rider that night. In this discussion with David M. Rubenstein, author Kostya Kennedy offers a new perspective on the famous ride, including the other men—and woman—involved in the scheme, the perils they faced, and their role in the quest for America’s independence.
Kostya Kennedy is the editor-in-chief of Premium Publishing at People Inc. and the author of several books, including The Ride: Paul Revere and the Night That Saved America. David M. Rubenstein (moderator), co-founder and co-chairman of the Carlyle Group, is the host of History with David Rubenstein on PBS and the author of The Highest Calling: Conversations on the American Presidency, among other books.
