The U.S.-China Trade Dispute: Where Things Stand

Breakfast available from 8am
Discussion begins at 8:30am

Get the insights you need on key trends in Asia at this series of monthly breakfast briefings featuring business and policy insiders and thought leaders. Conversations moderated by Asia Society Executive Vice President Tom Nagorski.

As the ups and downs of the trade dispute roil markets and the U.S.-China relationship, join one of the world’s most experienced and respected trade negotiators for a look at the current state of play. Do the latest rounds of U.S.-China talks have a realistic chance of ending the trade war? What might “winning” look like, for the U.S. and China respectively? How is the rest of Asia responding? What impact will congressional approval of a new trade deal with Canada and Mexico have on the U.S.-China tensions? How do the talks compare to other U.S. trade priorities, including ongoing talks with the EU and Japan? And what will the consequences be–of a deal, or stalemate–for the two nations and for the global economy?

Wendy Cutler is Vice President of the Asia Society Policy Institute (ASPI) and Managing Director of the Washington D.C. Office.
