Thich Nhat Hanh | Celebration of a 1967 Classic

Parallax Press, a nonprofit publisher co-founded by the late Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh, is cosponsoring a celebration with the Thich Nhat Hanh Program for Engaged Buddhism at Union Theological Seminary. (The seminary used to be a part of Columbia University, and Thich Nhat Hanh attended in the mid-’60s.)

Along with the participation of monastics from Blue Cliff Monastery, the gathering will celebrate the new edition of Thay’s book Vietnam: Lotus In A Sea of Fire, which was originally published in 1967. It is the first book he published in the U.S.

The celebration will begin at 5:45pm with a walking meditation from Thich Nhat Hanh’s former home at 306 W. 109th St. to the seminary. There will be a welcome, an introduction, a reading, dharma reflections, and a silent contemplation and song. A reception will follow.
