Bridget Alsdorf, Princeton University, discusses her current research on representations of theatrical audiences and crowds in fin-de-siecle France, with particular interest in art's intersections with emerging fields of social psychology. Considering a range of artistic media, her work sheds new light on the work of Felix Vallotton, Pierre Bonnard, and Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec.
