Tour | Westchester Square: A Colonial Era Village in the Bronx

Westchester Square is one of the most historic areas in The Bronx. This neighborhood still bears origins as a Colonial era village. This tour gives you a comprehensive look at the history and the first families of The Bronx and the strong connection to the Civil and Revolutionary war. We travel back to the 1700s as we visit various points of interest. Westchester Square is one of the most interesting places of The Bronx, not only for its unique history but also for its cultural diversity. Westchester Square was selected as one of the Six to Celebrate in 2018 by the Historic Districts Council.

One especially important stop on the tour will be St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, which was founded in 1693 in what was then the Village of Westchester. The current church was completed in 1855 and is a NYC landmark and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
