The internist, administrator, teacher, writer and social commentator Eric Manheimer, M.D. -- the medical director at Bellevue from 1997-2012, clinical professor at the New York University School of Medicine and now medical director the NYU Langone Medical Center -- who becomes a patient after being diagnosed with throat cancer, takes the audience through the medical system from top to bottom and on a tour between life and death.
