This event is mixed seated and standing room. Seats are first-come first-serve.

Featuring:
Mike Brown (Adult Swim, Paste Magazine)
Casey Jost (Impractical Jokers, Comedy Central)
Ashley Brooke Roberts (NatGeo, Fresh Out NY)

This month’s teacher:  Ashley Juavinett – The Visual System

Ashley Juavinett is a neuroscientist, educator, and writer currently working as a researcher at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory. She’s interested in understanding how the brain integrates sensory information to help us make important decisions, such as whether or not we should continue to follow Kayne West on Twitter. Ashley is also an avid science communicator, working with groups such as Massive and Guerilla Science to bring science into public spaces. You can follow her exploits at @analog_ashley.

At Unteachables, Ashley will take us on an adventure through our visual system, which does both an incredible and a terrible job at giving us a realistic picture of the world around us. We’ll learn about neurons that respond specifically to Jennifer Aniston, and ones that help us ignore irrelevant information. Oh, and whatever happened with the drama surrounding that blue (or was it white…?) dress?
