Artist Talk: Three Fiber Artists Discuss Untethered Works
When: Thu, Sep 10 at 1:00pm - 3:00pm
Where: Textile Art Gallery NYC
Price: Free
Three fiber and textile artists — Peggy Black, Julia Graziano, and Sarah Pavlik — reflect on their artistic process and practice in conjunction with their exhibition Untethered Works at Textile Art Gallery NYC.
Pavlik works improvisationally, creating fiber and mixed media pieces — dye-painted quilts, pieced fabrics, mixed media compositions — through a process of discovery guided by curiosity. The conversation covers specific works, sources of inspiration, outside influences, techniques, and each artist's exploration of design.
Part of New York Textile Month. Preceded at 11:30 a.m. by a book talk with Nicole Nehrig, author of With Her Own Hands: Women Weaving Their Stories.
