Vanessa Grigoriadis: Blurred Lines: Rethinking Sex, Power, and Consent on Campus

Inaugural Book Club at 5pm: The book club will be a moderated discussion with award winning journalist Vanessa Grigoriadis, followed by a Q&A to discuss her recent book, Blurred Lines: Rethinking Sex, Power, and Consent on Campus. The book is a sweeping epic based on reporting with students, parents, and university administrators from across the country. Vanessa is contributing editor at the New York Times magazine and Vanity Fair and received a National Magazine Award in profile writing.

The event will take place at THE FLOOR, a new movement studio that has opened up in Boerum Hill on Atlantic Avenue in the Creative Arts Studio building. In addition to offering small, open-level yoga, Pilates, and varied floor movement classes, THE FLOOR includes community outreach projects and Arts & Ideas programming—including a monthly book club, nights of poetry, and workshops around cultural and social topics. The mission of the studio is to create a member community, while also extending to the surrounding community in order to encourage self-care both through physical movement classes, and projects and events that allow people to communicate with one another about arts, politics, literature, and other important social issues.

THE FLOOR will be hosting two other events on the 29th:

Yoga class from 3-4:45pm—free with RSVP (limited to 10 people–email [email protected] to reserve a spot)

Open House from 6-8pm: This reception will allow members of the community, neighbors, and staff of THE FLOOR to get together to celebrate the opening of the studio.
