This Pride, join us for Resist! Remember! Repeat! - a screening and discussion of AIDS activist video, institutional censorship and queer archival praxis.
We’re celebrating the relaunch of the VHS Activism Archive, its move to the LGBT Center Archives and the debut of its new website. We’ll showcase rarely seen archival activism video and discuss AIDS media narratives, community organizing in health crises, and archiving outside the institution.
The VHS Activism Archive holds over 200 video tapes assembled by media scholar and video artist Dr. Alexandra Juhasz. It gathers activist, documentary, and experimental media, attending particularly to works concerning AIDS, anti-racism, and the art and expression of people of color, queers of many stripes, lesbians, femmes, and women.
