Virtual Brooklyn Talks: Ian Schrager and Norma Kamali

Studio 54 defined an era in the three years it was open, and forever changed our ideas about nightlife, fashion, and celebrity. Reflect on Studio 54’s cultural influence in a live virtual conversation with the co-founder of the iconic venue, Ian Schrager, and fashion designer Norma Kamali, whose work is featured in Studio 54: Night Magic. The two discuss their broad-ranging experiences: Norma Kamali has been in the fashion industry for over 50 years and is known for her innovative design work, and Ian Schrager is celebrated internationally for his contributions to entertainment and hospitality, most notably when he and late business partner Steve Rubell created Studio 54 and the Palladium nightclubs in the 1970s and 80s. Before the talk, join Matthew Yokobosky, Senior Curator of Fashion and Material Culture, for a behind-the-scenes tour showing off select works by Norma Kamali in the exhibition including the Sleeping Bag Coat and multi-style jersey dresses.

Tickets are $10; a Zoom link will be emailed upon confirmation. Member tickets are $5.
