Virtual: Meet the Schneiders

Hear about what it was like running a business in 1874, and explore the role community plays in helping new arrivals build lives in new places — an experience as relevant today as it was in the 1870s. Journey back in time to visit Schneider’s Saloon in the basement of 97 Orchard Street, located in the heart of “Little Germany.” Like on our Shop Life building tour, you will meet an actor playing either John or Caroline Schneider who will show us their home and business, tell us about their community, and share how the saloon is faring with competition and outside efforts to regulate the industry. Throughout the program, participants will have a chance to ask their own questions and interact with John or Caroline.

When: Thu., Apr. 1, 2021 at 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
