Virtual Tour: Chamber Pots and Handkerchiefs

Join us on Youtube Live to explore how people in lower Manhattan experienced illness, disease, and death during the 19th century. This virtual tour, adapted from our popular “Life and Death” building tour, will trace the changing ways outbreaks of cholera and endemic tuberculosis were understood and treated. We’ll be discussing how tenements, working class neighborhoods, and immigrant living informed the emerging municipal responses to public health, and the impact of those legacies today in contemporary reactions to Covid-19.

While this program is free, you can donate to support future programming from the Tenement Museum here

Please note: This program will only be available on Youtube 24 hours after it airs. It will repeat at a later date.
