Wartime Production: The Brooklyn Navy Yard in World War II (Virtual Session)

In lieu of our usual first Sunday World War II Tour of the Brooklyn Navy Yard, we’re delving into our archives to share stories of “The Can-Do Yard,” when the Yard swelled to 70,000 workers building and repairing the Allied fleets. In light of our current national emergency, we will also discuss how civilian manufacturers in Brooklyn geared up for the war effort, making everything from rations to uniforms to ships and aircraft, and how many companies in the Yard are helping manufacture critical medical supplies today.
