This evening walking tour lead by Andrew Dolkart explores the northern blocks of West End Avenue and adjoining streets, examining the row houses and apartment buildings erected between the 1890s and 1920s — including major works designed or developed by the leading figures whose investment and creativity shaped the Upper West Side's architectural character.
Andrew Dolkart is a graduate of Colgate University and Columbia's Historic Preservation Program. He has been active in historic preservation in NYC for over 30 years. His books include Morningside Heights: A History of Its Architecture and Development, as well as Biography of a Tenement House in New York City: An Architectural History of 97 Orchard Street, and The Row House Reborn: Architecture and Neighborhoods in New York City 1908-1929.
Note: This is an active walk and may involve stairs.
